Midwest Center for Day Surgery, a freestanding ambulatory surgery facility located on the campus of Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, is owned and managed as a joint venture between Advocate SCA Partners LLC and a group of surgeon investors. Midwest Center began providing outpatient surgical services on October 29, 1985 and became part of Surgical Care Affiliates in 2016.
Midwest Center originally opened with three operating rooms. In 1986 a fourth operating room was opened; major remodeling was accomplished in 1989 to provide five completely private and individual pre-op rooms; in 1990 a minor procedure room was approved for use; in 1996 a major construction program was undertaken which added a fifth operating room and additional support space; and construction accomplished in 2011 updated the entire facility, including the operating rooms, and adding all new furnishings in the waiting room, recovery areas and staff lounge.
The physicians enjoy a partnership that provides an efficient extension to their offices for cost-effective alThe Medical Staff has grown from 20 surgeons at its inception to a present staff of over 60 surgeons, physicians, dentists, and podiatrists. The surgical specialties represented by the Medical Staff include anesthesiology/pain management, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, general surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, podiatry, pediatric dentistry, and urology. Anesthesia services are provided by a group of anesthesiologists affiliated with Good Samaritan Hospital and an anesthesiologist who works solely at MCDS. All work at MCDS as independent contractors. The Center has a transfer agreement with Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital to accommodate patients who require overnight observation.
The Center is licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health, and is a provider in the Medicare Program.
Midwest Center for Day Surgery is open Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
